Thanks to everyone who came out to support us Sat. night. The crowd was small, but the vibe was real. So was the DNB that got dropped. Everything from Hip-Hop to smashin' jungle tracks kept the place live all night!!
Special thanks goes out to the Nalij crew and the Cellular Lab gang for coming down and supporting us. You guys definitely bring the party!!
Danny, take care of yourself out west, we'll get you back here again before too long. Thanks for the rymes!!

Everybody rinsed out the sounds.
Great Soundsystem, Great Sound Guy,
I got way too drunk, Hope I didn't piss anyone off too bad.
That rum gets on top of ya.
Great sets the whole night from LyNkZ, Mattius, Lotus, and Prodical
Cell Lab even played @ the Afterparty, and I was freaking smashed.
Thank you guys so much for everything !!!!!!!!
Both of you guys put alot of hard work to make that night happen.
Sucks that the turnout was lame, but it is a working progress.
Oh yeah, 40 year old redneck bitches love drum and bass @ The Dive...hahaha
The DNB got presented proper....
You guys are the SHIT!!!!!!!!! MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT TO THE ENCDNB CREW.....BOH

Had to do an assignment for my psyc class, go out and break a social norm, then write about it.
Not the Norm
I was super excited to get this assignment; it’s not too hard for me to break a social norm. In fact my friends and I had been planning on doing it for a month. My boyfriend and his friends are drum n bass DJs. Drum n bass sounds nothing like techno, but for someone that doesn't listen to electronic music, it is a good place to start. Even though the drum n bass scene is way different than the rave scene, we still get the reputation of the glow stick kids on ecstasy. We threw a party in Greenville not to long ago and were referred to as "The freaks upstairs" by one of the frat boys.
Last Saturday we threw a party at the Dive, in Cape Carteret. If you don't know about the dive, well it's a dive. It is one of the best bars in this area as far as food and shows go, but on regular nights it's full of alcoholic red-necks and a small crowd of college age kids. Not the typical time and place for a drum n bass party but we did it anyway. For the start of the show, the guys planned on doing a little hip-hop just to get the crowd warmed up. The sound check however, had to be drum n bass. DJ Lotus dropped a massive bass line and the people sitting at the bar almost dropped there drinks, It was great.
After the hip-hop the drum n bass commenced, and the DJs were not taking it easy on the crowd at all. While my boyfriend was on stage mixing records (which is not an easy task at all) a belligerent woman got on the stage walked up to him and said "will you play something we can dance to?” Drum n Bass is dance music! That is what it is made for. The ignorance of some people in this town is ridiculous. Later that night I herd the woman screaming from behind me "You Suck!" I turned around and responded "Your Drunk!” I didn't hear her again. In the middle of all this electronic, as far from country as you can get, music, DJ Mattius dropped dueling banjos. People (the red-necks) were getting pissed. One man slammed his drink on the bar and said he was going to hurt that smart ass. The drum n bass kids stood in front of the stage screaming hee-haw and other typical hic calls, that didn't help the hostility very much.
It was still several hours before the show ended, and by the end of the night the show had brought in 155 dollars at the door, and had introduced a lot of people to something new. Even though there was a lot of anger directed to what we had done there were still others in the bar that looked at us as doing something interesting and brave. For about every three angry faces there was at least one bobbing head, so in my opinion this show was a success. What I learned from the experience of the party, and the drum n bass scene in general, is that no matter how weird, "freakish", or dorky people might perceive you to be, there is always going to be somebody that finds you cool.
couldn't write everything I wanted to, like I wanted to break that old bitches hips, and that the party didn't stop untill eight in the morning. but It was a great party and thank you to all that came out I hope to see you all soon!
One question Ummm Ticus, you are the mutha fuckin man on the decks, but....... WTF?

Had a blast last weekend, but 50 more people on the dancefloor was really wot that party needed. Tons of people passed out flyers from J'Ville to MHC (+ some in Wilmington). We also promoted via ncdnb's forum. But, DnB is just not something that many people listen to that come to The Dive on a regular basis. However, the turnout wasn't as bad as the last party (Musical Revelation Album Release Party in July 3, 2006), so that's a definite plus. The venue has been much improved since the last time we played there. They now have a system w/ four 18" subs, & new mid range PAs on each side of the stage. The lights on the stage were fuckin' HOT! Joe said he felt like a BoJangles' biscuit when we were setting up. Mattius did a great job w/ the light setup, as usual. Jed & Jacob worked together w/ The Dive sound guy to get the sysyem humming. It's always good to have people who know wot they are doing when it comes to sound systems! I am pretty sure all the djs liked The Dive's setup, I know I did. We will begin promoting for February's DND Monthly @ the beginning of the year, hopefully it will be @ The Dive. It is pretty safe to say that everyone (except one drunk bitch, there's always that one) had a great time. Al, the owner of The Dive, is the man! He hooked us up w/ a Sat. night w/ $1.50 Bud Lights & $2 Sparks + split the door w/ us. Much respect! The late night menu was off the hook, I'm gonna have to eat there much more often. This now makes it 4 parties that we have thrown at The Dive, & its always been fun. If we can throw another successful party in February, we will consider booking some djs outside of enc. All the djs: Mattius, Ticus, Lotus & myself played really hot shit!!! I started off with some jumpup / hip hop dnb & progressed into some harder hitting dnb (plus I dropped the hell out of Dylan's remix of Master of Puppets by Metallica @ the end of my set for da metalheads). Mattius played his Big Screen Basslines sets, and dropped dnb track after dnb track w/ movie samples in every break, hot shit! I really enjoyed his transition between his two sets, if you were not there, you really should listen to it via our Mixes from encdnb.com djs forum. Ticus came on next w/ some of the hottest smash you in the face ragga every heard. Unbelievable how many people who had never heard dnb/jungle before took a liking to his style. Lotus played one of the best sets I've ever heard him play. That one track he played midway through his set w/ the girl sample & the smashin' amens was wot that system needed! He also hit us w/ some serious remixes; Ant Miles' remix of Red One's Believe In U, Street Level RMX, & The Code (SKC RMX). Overall, some of the best dnb I have heard in a very very long time. I loved how each dj played a different style of dnb/jungle. After the party, all the djs helped pack up & moved the party to Brick House. The afterparty continued there from 3-6am. Cellular Lab Project took control of the deckz and MC Prodical Prophet broke off some serious flows (we should have had him drinkin' Bacardi all night!). I really hope we can do this again in February, but start promoting earlier and doing everything legally possible to get people out to the next one. I can never thank the djs & MC Prodical Prophet enuff for keepin' it so real. Big thnx to all the kids that made this event a success. Hope to see everyone in Feb. Peace.
